The discipleship training curriculum is an 8-10 month residential curriculum open to men and women, 16 years of age to 65 years of age. It is divided into four phases, each phase lasting 2-4 months. As the person proves he/she; can handle the increasing responsibilities of each phase, their privileges will increase.
During their 8-10 month stay, residents do not hold down outside jobs, as all of their attention is focused on the curriculum. We challenge the residents to embrace the Christian faith. We see that when they do, their lives are transformed and they find true meaning and purpose in life.
Residents follow strict rules and discipline. All residents adhere to a daily schedule which includes devotions, Bible classes and work assignments. The curriculum also includes educational classes, seminars, workshops, peer counseling, staff counseling, pro-social activities, life skills groups, along with special events.
The first phase of the curriculum is a 2-month induction period with very few privileges or responsibilities. The person is simply expected to follow the rules and schedule and begin to understand how to seek the Lord. This is the Probationary Phase.
The next 2 phases add some general household responsibilities which will add normal life pressures and cause the person to seek the Lord for help. Privileges in these two phases include phone calls and visits from immediate family (or pastoral and legal counsel) only. No friends are allowed to visit or call any person in the discipleship training. These phases are the Trainee Phase, and the Residency Phase.
In the final Trainee Counselor Phase, the person is in “counselor ”. He or she will counsel one other person each day and make a report to senior staff. He or she is expected to be a good example in the house and learn to help others as he or she was helped. Upon completion of the curriculum, the person may be offered an additional 10-12 month staff-training curriculum.
