Hi my name is Lucas Corwin and I am 29 years old. I came to Northwest Bible Training Center on September 9th 2023. I have been here nearly four months, and I am so thankful for this ministry.  Before coming to NWBTC I was in a desperate situation of having fallen back into addictive patterns. I gave my life to Christ and got baptized October 23, 2020.  Before the Lord has been very compassionate to me. The brokenness I had before Christ drastically intervened was getting to a place in my heart that I intentionally drove my car off of a steep hillside and catapulted 500 ft down the slope. My car was destroyed.  I was ejected and knocked unconscious, breaking my back and bleeding profusely.  Seventeen hours passed before I was able to find my phone lodged in between the back seat of the car and call for help.  This was due to bitterness from a cancer battle and hating myself for not being able to stop using drugs on my own. My family back in Wyoming unconditionally loved me through the cancer battle and proceeding addiction.  They are still loving, supporting, and fighting for me since coming to NWBTC.

After being saved, I was a part of a homeless outreach ministry in Eureka, Ca for a couple of years and living for Jesus.  I was on a mountain top for those years until I slowly began to make choices contrary to obedience and a discipled life for Christ.  The hand of the almighty went into discipline mode, and I began to  learn a very hard lesson.  My choices to disobey His very direct commands caused me to be under a huge weight of not just drugs and alcohol but mental torment of loss and failure.  It went very fast! I lost my job, my apartment and was homeless for about a month.  I was beginning to give up and God’s mercy that seemed far away.  He had done so much for me, and I had thrown it all away.  I was under a tremendous amount of fear and thought I was going to die.  This is when the door opened for me to come to NWBTC.  I was shown mercy that I did not deserve.  God has used NWBTC to truly save my life and above all else, wonderful mercy!

I am grateful for the Holy Spirit filled teachers who come teach and minister to each and every one of us here at NWBTC. I am so blessed by the staff here and my fellow residents who I consider family.  We are strong together!
